Master of Divinity Degree

Trinity offers the Master of Divinity degree with 3 different majors. The MDiv degree consists of 63 credits minimum across the areas of Common Core Studies and Major Core Studies.

Purpose of the MDiv Degree

To develop necessary skills in Biblical Studies, Theology, and Christian ministries in preparation for significant leadership in the church.

Learning Competencies

  1. Learners will be able to develop a Christian worldview in which attitudes and values are informed by biblical standards.
  2. Learners will be able to identify best practices for individual and corporate spiritual growth and formation.
  3. Learners will be able to interpret the Bible with respect to its literary, historical, and theological context.
  4. Learners will be able to construct a consistent theology based on biblical foundations and informed by the development of Christian thought.
  5. Learners will be able to develop leadership skills that serve the ministry needs of the local church in the twenty-first century.

Program Structure – 63 Credits Minimum

Prerequisite: Bachelor's degree.

Total Credits Required = 63. A minimum of 33 credits must be earned at Trinity. All courses are 3 semester credit hours unless noted otherwise. Courses may be taken in any order unless otherwise specified.

A maximum of 30 credits may be satisfied via transfer credit which may be reduced by up to 9 credits via the Graduate Portfolio. General Elective credits must meet one of two criteria: (1) comparable to a course taught at Trinity or (2) connectivity to Trinity's program as demonstrated by fulfillment of one of Trinity's Mission Objectives. Transfer (grades of "B" or above) must satisfy the requirements of the program.
